The popular Jazz Festival is a summer favorite event in Sioux Falls. It is very much anticipated in the area, especially by tourists. The annual event is usually held on the month of July at the Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls. The two-day outdoor musical event features about two stages. Thus, this awaited event is free to the public.

It is the Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society who routinely organizes the annual Jazz Festival. Proceeds for the festival are mostly raised through the beverage and food sales of the Jazz Fest’s acclaimed beer garden. Aside from this, you will see there a big screen from the Mid-continent, which provides a bird's-eye view of the happenings on the main stage. This is since it will showcase excellent artists. Amongst the celebrated jazz artists that frequent the area are Smooth guitarist Joyce Cooling, Louisiana bluesman Benoit, and the legendary Taj Mahal. Then again, the second stage of the Jazz Festival is bigger and shaded only for local artist.

Moreover, the Jazz Festival also consists of the Jazz Fest poetry Tent and the Sanford Children’s Jazz Quest. Regional and local poets, jazz musicians, a poetry slam and other special guests are being hosted in this Jazz Fest Tent. The Sanford Children's Jazz Quest also features family friendly musical performances as well as other arts activities. Games are being featured as well.
