South Dakota’s Mount Rushmore National Memorial, a free and famous tourist attraction in the United States of America. The Memorial took its name from an attorney, Charles E. Rushmore, a lawyer from New York who was doing an investigation on mining claims around Black Hills. Mount Rushmore National Memorial is located 23 miles southwest of Rapid City. Gutzon Borglum, a sculptor created this greatest mountain carving. A period of 14 years took Borglum to carve this marvelous attraction. Today, thought to be priceless but $1 million was spent to be able to build and finish this structure. Borglum’s classic sculpture showcases faces of four of the exalted presidents of the United States of America namely Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. The Avenue of Flags boasts a display of 56 representing all the territories and states of America. The avenue leads the way to from Concession Building all the way to Grandview Terrace. It also serves as an easy entrance to Grandview Terrace as well as the Presidential Trail with a very detailed and breath taking view of the sculptured mountain.

Aside from views and going around the Memorial, there are also activities offered such as interpretive programs, film showing, exhibits that usually takes place at Lincoln Borglum Museum. The Memorial’s rangers give interpretive tours and discussions, as well as holding the Evening Sculpture Lighting Ceremony that takes place every night in the amphitheater. More of Mount Rushmore Memorial’s programs being provided include guided tours to Sculptor's Studio, walks to the exciting Presidential Trail, talk at the spacious Grandview Terrace. There are also various activities for the children during the afternoon.
