The city of Watertown in South Dakota is where the well-known Redlin Art Center. Opened on June 6, 1997, it is located. Redlin Art Center building is situated at the junction of U.S. Highway 212 and Interstate 29 in Watertown, South Dakota. Over 2 million visitors and art enthusiasts had been here to visit. The impressive building proudly holds many original works of Terry Redlin, a famous and one of the most popular American wildlife artists. Original oil paintings of Terry which he had made since 1978 to 1985 are on permanent display. In 1996, a year before it officially opened, the center received the Merit Award during the Build America Awards organized by the Associated General Contractors of America.

Charles Redlin conceptualized the remarkable designs of the 52,000 sq. ft. brick building of the center. Charles Redlin was Terry Redlin’s son. The gallery walls are made of white, black and gray Impala granite which was sourced from Africa. The Impala granite was selected because it does not steal attention of the viewers. It enhances the paintings to make it the focus of attention. Also, hallways are all lined up with oak railings completes the work and gives a touch of class.

The gallery has a separate room in its main floor, wherein guests will be able to discover treasures that describe the artist’s artistic talent at the earliest glimpse of his displayed pieces. It displays a collection of paintings, drawings and foil etchings. This room was specially created especially to show a lifetime of work of Terry Redlin in order to inspire artists from all ages. The center has also an amphitheater that holds three special video presentations of Terry Redlin’s family, his career and the for the art center. The theater displays impressive memorable pieces collected from Langenfeld Ice Cream.

Finally the Redlin Art Center has a gift shop called Terry Redlin Gift Shop which sells Terry Redlin’s prints and other collector items. The money from the shop is used to operate The Redlin Foundation. The foundation keeps Terry's tokens, given free to all visitors of the center.
